Knowledge Forum is an electronic group workspace designed to support the process of knowledge building. With Knowledge Forum, any number of individuals and groups can share information, launch collaborative investigations, and build networks of new ideas together.  KF collects information in different ways in order to provide an individualized and robust educational experience for each user, including real-time assessments for use by students and teachers.For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual. We obtain Personal Information relating to you from various sources described below.  Personal information that is collected automatically include: names, emailsemail address, IP addresses, network location, browser version, browser type, ---device IDs--- and ---characteristics---, operating system version, language preferences, referring URLs, and information about the usage of our site. Non personal information is collected eveytime any user uses the service. Every request and response which is caused by user's interaction with the service is saved on the disk. This information does have linkable personal information like IP logs and non linkable data like session ID. We do not share any personal information or linkable personal information to any 3rd party unless so is required for  legal compliance by the government. Non-personal information may be shared to analytics partners to extract usage data. This is regulated through seperate aggrements if entered into between University of Toronto and the partner to analyze the page flows or to allow use of specific KF features like linking of google account with KF if to create note over google drive. Access to service to students under 18 is regulated by individual school owners via separate contracts between University of Toronto and respective schools. Individual schools ensure that concent from parental responsibility is obtained. Internal and service-related usage; analytics and improving the site;  aggregate data - this includes research related to learning via Knowledge Forum; if required by law.  KF does not share personal information with any 3rd party for marketing purposes. Personal information of the group can be accessed by the community in which the user decides to write notes and share information.  The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), provide the Service on our behalf, perform Service-related services or assist us in analysing how our Service is used. KF will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies. As a parent, teacher, or school/district administrator, you can view and/or modify your information through your password-protected manager account. Wth a manager acount, you can also  view and/or modify information for your child(ren) and student(s). We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. Community Owners have features to enable Pseudo names of authors to hide personal information. This feature allows manager to hide user's personal information and display pseudo names to prevent idenfication. For our research interests Legal Requirements You are able to request that your account be deleted at any time by writing to us. You are also able to request to delete your child/student's account as long as you have a parent or teacher  (manager) account that is linked to that child. In this event, we will delete your and/or your child's personal information from our systems, and will remove access from the account within 10 business days of your request. Knowledge Forum will take all the steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organisation or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.
